LANNWS-05-11-24 COUNTY LUNCHEON Dennis Marstall

Lancaster County Administrator Dennis Marstall presented community leaders a transportation sales tax proposal, which would fund future road projects in the county.

LANCASTER, S.C. — Leaders across Lancaster County gathered for an intergovernmental luncheon May 3 to discuss both a proposed transportation sales tax and the county’s fire millage to prepare for future growth.

County Administrator Dennis Marstall presented leaders with a presentation on the sales tax first, which highlighted 94 miles of roadway the county improved from 2018-24. Funding streams from the county show that $9 million from the Capital Projects Sales Tax 2 proviso must be completed by 2025, the County Transportation Committee distributes $1.4 million per year, and a road fee of $800,000 per year offsets the road maintenance budget.
