Jackets blank North Central: The Buford High School boys varsity soccer team got a 6-0 shutout of the North Central Knights on April 16. The Yellow Jackets scored all six goals in the first half as they cruised to the win and improved to 8-8 overall and 3-3 in Region 5-2A.
Buford girls stay the course: The Lady Jackets easily beat North Central on the road, 5-1, on April 16. They are now 13-2-1 overall and 3-2 in region play. Buford held a 1-0 lead at the half, but then unloaded for four second-half goals. Kaylynn Faile scored two goals in the match, while Payton Bowers, Hannah Davis and Emma Thompson each had a goal as well.
Lady Warriors pick up easy win: The Indian Land High School girls picked up a 10-0 win over the Lancaster Bruins on April 16 to improve to 11-4 overall and 8-2 in Region 3-4A. Charlotte Kempf and Charli Nelson each scored two goals, while Berkeley Slepokura, Zoie Kempf, Addison Padgett, Kaitlyn Knoll, Ashlyn Yasurek and Sienna Miller each scored a goal for Indian Land.
Softball
Buford holds off North Central: The Buford softball team held off a strong North Central team, scoring the game-winning run in the bottom of the fifth to win 6-4 on April 16.
Riley McManus went 3-4 with three RBIs to lead the Yellow Jackets, while Ella Cate Plyler, Ava Vincent and Addison Belk each had two hits in the win. Laney Allen and Caroline Plyler combined for a four-hitter in the game. Buford is now 8-4 overall and 7-0 in Region 5-2A play.
Warriors fall to Clover, beat Bruins: The Indian Land Warriors fell to Clover, 6-2, in a non-region game April 17.
The day before on April 16, they beat Lancaster, 14-3. Ava Williams hit two home runs and drove in seven for Indian Land as the Warriors posted seven runs in the third inning to help their cause.
Amelia White went 2-4 with a home run and three RBIs and Riley Murphy went 2-3 with two home runs and two RBIs.
Olivia Miller got the win over five innings, allowing three runs on nine hits, while walking three and striking out four.
Kasyah Stover went 3-3 at the plate for Lancaster to lead the Bruins. Morgan Duley went 2-3 with an RBI for the Bruins as well.
Indian Land improved to 16-6 overall, while Lancaster fell to 6-6.
Vols drop region game: The Andrew Jackson Lady Vols fell to Chesterfield, 9-1, on April 16. They are now 3-6 overall and 2-3 in Region 5-2A.
