Free tax return preparation:
• AARP Foundation Tax-Aide offers free tax help by appointment only noon-4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through April 15 at Prime Time for Seniors Center, 309 S. Plantation Road, Lancaster. Open to taxpayers of all ages; AARP membership is not required. Participants must pick up a data packet at the site and complete information before appointment. • VITA, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, is available to households that made less than $60,000 in 2023. Appointments can be made in Lancaster and Indian Land at www.uwaylcsc.org or by calling toll-free, 866-892-9211. Free online tax preparation is provided at myfreetaxes.com. Questions about the tax free program can also be answered by the United Way office at 803-283-8923.
