Saturday, April 20, was a beautiful day to celebrate Earth Day in Van Wyck, with the opening of its first community garden on the grounds of White Oak AME Zion Church.
There were children's activities, free vegetable plants and other plants for sale, hot dogs and free snacks. Organizer Res Hauck did demonstrations and Josh Davis gave a talk on plants. The White Oak Girl Scout troop were great volunteers and helpers.
