LANCASTER, S.C. — The Lancaster County Council of the Arts announces the premiere of “Elvis Ballet,” performed by South Carolina Ballet, at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 8, at the Lancaster High School Multipurpose Building.
The LCCA is delighted to host the South Carolina Ballet for this one-of-a-kind spring performance. “Elvis Ballet” is a sensational fusion of dance and music, paying tribute to the legendary singer Elvis Presley. This spectacular multimedia production will captivate audiences with its dynamic choreography, stunning visuals and the timeless hits of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
The ballet will feature seamless transitions between ballet, jazz and contemporary dance styles, and successfully blend the grace and elegance of classical ballet with the energy and charisma of Presley’s music.
South Carolina Ballet’s Artistic Director, William Starrett will choreograph the majority of the ballet, collaborating with other choreographers for the balance of the production.
An electrifying live musical score, by Mark Rapp Music, including some of Elvis’s greatest hits, such as “Jailhouse Rock,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Love Me Tender” and “Suspicious Minds,” among others, will delight any Elvis fan!
The music, combined with innovative choreography, aims to capture the essence of Elvis’s wildly popular live performances, and showcase his enduring influence on popular culture.
“Elvis Ballet” represents a bold step forward for South Carolina Ballet in pushing the boundaries of classical ballet and expanding its audience reach. By fusing the artistry of dance with the timeless music of Elvis Presley, this production aims to engage both ballet enthusiasts and Elvis fans, providing a fresh and vibrant experience for all.
