LANCASTER, S.C. — Mrs. Diane Hunter Pitmon, 74, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born Oct. 11, 1949, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Ernest C. Hunter and the late Vivian Plyler Hunter. She was the wife of the late Steve Franklin “Sammy” Pitmon. Mrs. Pitmon loved going to the beach, working in the yard, her fur baby, Patches, and most of all, spending time with her family.
Mrs. Pitmon is survived by her daughter, Wendy Bell (fiancé, Chris Faulkenberry); seven grandchildren, Kayla Bell, Brandon Bell, Dustin Snipes (Kristen), Lauren Poston (Jimmy), Casey Humbert, Anna Snipes and Jacob Snipes; two great-grandchildren, Daxton Snipes and Bailey Snipes; two sisters, Paulette Brown (Ken) and Becky Carter; and many special family and friends.
Mrs. Pitmon was preceded in death by her two sons, the Rev. Timothy “Timmy” Snipes and Donnie Snipes; her husband, Sammy Pitmon; her parents, Ernest and Vivian Hunter; and her brother, Ernest Hunter.
The celebration of life funeral service for Mrs. Pitmon was 2 p.m. Thursday, March 21, at Springdell Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Donald Tillman and the Rev. Hunter Brown. Burial followed at Lancaster Memorial Park.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at Burgess Funeral Home.
