LANCASTER, S.C. — Sabrena Harris has been named Lancaster County’s chief financial officer. She has an extensive background in budget development, financial management and strategic planning.
Harris was previously employed with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District as the executive director of budget and management services. While employed with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District, Harris led the development of the district’s $2.1 billion operating, $23 million capital, and $98 million enterprise budgets.
Lancaster County Administrator Dennis Marstall welcomes Harris as the county’s chief financial officer.
“The CFO role is a key position on the county management team, and I am thrilled to have Sabrena fill this role,” Marstall said of Harris.
“She has a tremendous background with her MBA and in the military, but having worked in both the private and local government sectors will serve her well. She brings a wealth of knowledge in understanding local government budgets, but also managing the many funds and functions of the entire finance department.”
Harris earned her master’s in business administration at Averett University in Danville, Va., where she served as class president of her cohort for the two-year MBA program and graduated with honors.
She served in the U.S. Army for two years, spending nine months of that time in Desert Shield/Storm as an aircraft mechanic. Harris was in the Navy ROTC during all four years of high school.
“I am deeply honored and thrilled to accept the role of CFO with Lancaster County. As I step into this position, I bring with me not just a wealth of experience and expertise in financial management, but also a steadfast commitment to upholding the financial integrity, priorities and initiatives that will propel the county toward continued growth and success,” said Harris, who began working with Lancaster County on Jan. 22.
“I am truly excited about the journey ahead and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact as we chart the course for a brighter future for our county,” Harris said.
