LANCASTER, S.C. — The Lancaster County Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee has announced the opening of the application process for grants to be awarded by June 30.
Nonprofit organizations within Lancaster County are invited to apply for these grants to support tourism-related initiatives.
Under the guidelines in Chapter 4, Title 6, of the S.C. Code of Laws, accommodations tax funds are designated for expenses aimed at enhancing tourism.
Eligible expenses include, but are not limited to:
• Advertising and promotion of tourism to stimulate visitor attendance through the generation of publicity.
• Promotion of the arts and cultural events to enrich the local cultural landscape.
• Construction, maintenance and operation of facilities for civic and cultural activities, including supporting infrastructure.
• Support for essential services, such as the criminal justice system, law enforcement, fire protection, solid waste collection and health facilities, as required to cater to tourists and tourist facilities.
• Development and upkeep of public facilities, including restrooms, dressing rooms, parks and parking lots.
• Implementation of tourist shuttle transportation services to enhance accessibility.
• Management and remediation of waterfront erosion to preserve natural attractions.
• Operation of visitor information centers to facilitate a welcoming experience for tourists.
Nonprofit organizations interested in applying for these grants can access the application forms and ATAC guidelines through Lancaster County’s official website, www.mylancastersc.org. Navigate to the Finance section under the “Departments” dropdown menu. Click on “State Accommodations Tax Information” in the menu on the left side of the screen to access the necessary documents.
The deadline for submitting grant applications is 5 p.m. April 26. Organizations are encouraged to review the guidelines thoroughly and submit their applications promptly to be considered for funding.
