  • Wright wins Caddie Classic

    Lancaster High School golfer Simon Wright shot a one-under 71 to capture the 25th annual “Papa Ed” Caddie Classic at the Lancaster Golf Club on Sunday afternoon.
    Wright, who played on the Class AAAA state champion LHS Bruins team last spring, shot a 34 in the opening nine holes, including four birdies, on the warm, but blustery day at LGC.
    Ninety-eight junior golfers from across the state competed for 36 caddie spots and 4 alternate positions for the Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am scheduled for April 15 at Barefoot Resort in Myrtle Beach.

  • Lady Jackets rip Cyclones

    The Buford High School girls soccer team raised its record to 6-3 with a 6-0 win over Class AAA Chester High School on Tuesday night.
    Isabella Jones and Chaney Smith led all scorers with two goals each. Marisa King and Sophie Ribelin each scored one goal in the win.
    Madison Funderburk recorded her fifth shutout of the season. Buford’s next game is next Thursday at home against county foe Andrew Jackson High School.

  • Roberts leads LHS girls hoops...

    The Lancaster High School girls basketball teams, varsity and junior varsity squads, drew the LHS blue and gold spotlight at the annual Lady Bruins basketball awards Monday night in the Flex Room of the school’s Multipurpose Building.
    Junior forward Kiara Roberts led the award winners with two hoops honors.
    Roberts, who averaged 10.6 points and 10.7 rebounds a game, was presented the Bruin Award.
    “Kiara played hard all the time,” LHS girls coach Ronnie Robinson said. “No matter the score, she always gave us her best effort.”

  • Volunteers blank Knights, 4-0

    Andrew Jackson pushed its Region IV-AA baseball mark to 5-2, posting a 4-0 win over North Central on Tuesday night.
    Volunteers’ senior right-hander Will Hudson went the distance, registering nine strikeouts and allowing three hits in the shutout. He allowed no walks.
    Hudson aided his cause with a double and drove in a run.
    Bryce Helms led the offense with two hits and two RBIs. Brett Percival belted a solo home run, scored twice and had a RBI.

  • Lady Bruins drill AJHS

    The Lancaster Lady Bruins evened their softball record at 4-4, rolling to a 15-2 road win over county rival Andrew Jackson High School on Wednesday night.
    Riley Burton led the LHS offense with three singles.
    N’Oneisti Witherspoon had a triple and double in the Lady Bruins’ attack.
    Ana Watts laced a single and a double. Amarie Gist had two singles as did Maya Miller.
    Madison Morris and Taylor Ames-Alexander each had a double, while
    Nykie Mingo supplied a hit.

  • SECA Crate Late Models headline...

    Lancaster Motor Speedway roars back to action Saturday night with the SECA Crate Late Model Division as the top event for the action.
    During the opening weekend two weeks ago, Michael “Downtown” Brown captured both nights of SECA Crate Late Model main event, but Brown will not be here this Saturday as he will be racing with the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series.

  • Truesdale tops Laps for Lancers...

    Marc Truesdale said it was just a warm-up for a bigger day ahead, but as it turned out he was the hottest runner on a cold morning in the fourth annual Laps for Lancers 10K at the University of South Carolina Lancaster on Saturday.
    Truesdale, who will run in the Boston Marathon next month, posted a 38-minute time to top the 10K field to win by over three minutes.

  • Lady Jackets win

    The Buford High School girls soccer team blanked the Governor’s School, 4-0 Monday night at home.
    Isabella Jones led all scorers with two goals. Kalyn Stroud and Sophie Ribelin each tallied one goal.
    Madison Funderburk recorded her fourth shutout of the season.
    The Yellow Jackets are 5-3 overall, 3-0 in region play.
    Buford played at Chester High School on Tuesday night.

    Camden built a 2-1 halftime lead and held on for a 4-3 win over the host Indian Land Lady Warriors on Friday night at Warrior Stadium.

  • ILHS booters coach posts 200th...

    Indian Land High School boys soccer coach Adam Cole posted his 200th career win Friday during his team’s 5-2 road victory over the Camden Bulldogs.
    His coaching record – all at ILHS – stands at 200-65-4 overall and 73-4-0 in region play.
    In Friday’s win, the Warriors, 8-0 on the season and 3-0 in the region, outshot CHS, 22-14.
    Gavin Dunlop scored three goals, and Addison Guild and Jordan Perry made one each with assists from Nicolas Alava, Gabe Burris, Isaiah Phifer, Guild and Logan Lambert.

  • Bruins rally, trip Jackets

    Lancaster, up 6-0 at point, fell behind 12-6, but came back to take a 14-12 comeback win over county rival Buford High School in eight innings on Saturday afternoon at BHS.
    The Bruins rapped 14 hits, with Raul Garcia-Mora and Logan Phillips leading the way with three hits and three RBIs each. Phillips drew two walks and tallied a run, while Garcia-Mora had one base on balls and scored two runs.
    Buddy Howard had two hits, including a double, with three runs scored, a stolen base and two walks.
    Sergio Vazquez had two hits, one RBI, one walk and scored a run.
