    USCL baseball players Zach Callahan and Ryan Manore were teammates this season for the Lancer baseball team, and they will remain teammates.

    Both have signed to play their next two years at Francis Marion University.

    University of South Carolina Lancaster outfielder Jonah Crenshaw spent his freshman year at playing baseball Toccoa Falls College.

    At the end of that year, Crenshaw knew he wanted to come home to further his baseball career.

    Crenshaw, a local product, played his high school ball right here at Lancaster High’s Doomsday Corner.

    The 2014 version of the Bruins’ tennis team had a successful year despite battling injuries and inconsistency throughout the season. 

    The squad finished with a region record of 8-6 which earned them a fourth-place position and a No. 4 seed in the playoffs.

    Lancaster was matched with tennis powerhouse Spartanburg for the first round and fell short, 6-0.

    PAGELAND – Indian Land faces a familiar postseason baseball scenario for the Class AA Upper State championship series.

    The 16-8 Warriors, who battled back through the losers’ bracket to win the District III title with a sweep of region and county rival Buford on Wednesday, May 7, will have to do the same.

    The Lancaster High School girls soccer team has produced a landmark season on the pitch and the Lady Bruins hope to add more milestones as the state playoffs open this week.

    The Lady Bruins, 15-6, 9-5 in region play, are ranked No. 15 in the latest Class AAAA girls state soccer poll.

    The IL boys, with 127 points, finished second in the Region IV-AA meet at Warrior Stadium on Monday, May 5.

    The Warriors were led by John Gregory, first in the 400 meters with 1:00.20, and Manny Delgado, first in the 110 hurdles in 16.14.

    The Indian Land girls placed second in the Region IV-AA track meet at Warrior Stadium on Monday, May 5.

    The IL girls, with 111 points, were led by by Mikayla Wallace, first in the 200-meter dash, 27.57; Morgan Engstrom, first in the 3200 in 13:57.05 and Dasaira Benjamin, first in the shot 28-05.

    Three Lancaster High Bruins captured region championships at the recent Region III-AAAA track meet.

    Junior Yasmine Robinson won her first region title in the discus event. Her throw of 105 feet was good enough to take the women’s title, and qualify for the state qualifying meet Saturday, May 10.

    The Andrew Jackson High Volunteer golf team capped an undefeated season with a second straight Region IV-AA tournament championship at Kershaw Golf Club on Tuesday, May 6.

    AJ, 25-0, is now 17-0 in region play for the 2014 season.
