    “Bad Boy” Ben Watkins claimed the win in the Heintz Performance Limited Late Model main event Saturday, July 6, at Lancaster Motor Speedway.
    Watkins and Timbo Mangum were in the front row. When the green flag fell, Watkins, Mangum, David Yandle and Johnny Pursley battled for the lead.
    In turn four, Watkins and Mangum were side-by-side. Watkins cleared Mangum in turns three and four for the win.

  • Darlings stars battle for state...

    The Lancaster County 7-8 Darlings American softball all-stars and National all-stars were slated to play Saturday morning in the district championship round at the Rodman Athletic Complex in Chester County.

    The game was completed after The Lancaster News' deadline for the Sunday paper.

    The annual Aquatics meet, the season-ending competition between the area recreation summer swim teams, is set for Tuesday, July 9 and Wednesday, July 10 at the Kershaw Aquatics Center.

    The Lancaster Dixie Baseball Ozone all-stars capped a 5-0 run to the District Two tournament title with a 9-8 comeback win over Union.

    The one-run win sends the Lancaster Ozone stars to Florence’s Greenwood Park to face Lexington on Saturday, July 13.

    The Lancaster County Parks and and Recreation Commission has set fall sports registration.

    The LCPRC fall sports program will include a new program for fall baseball for boys ages 5-12 and girls softball for ages 5-12 as of Sept. 1, 2013.

  • Tigers top Stingrays swimmers

    The Lancaster Tigers topppled the Kershaw Stingrays, 320-224 in a meet at the Kershaw Aquatics Center on Saturday, June 29.

    The Tigers were led by Lauren Spencer and Jonathan Wade who had four wins each.

    The Lancaster Dixie Boys 13 all-stars are headed to the state tournament in Aiken after winning the District 10 championship in York.

    The Lancaster 13s captured the district crown and state bid with an 8-3 win over the Rock Hill all-stars on Tuesday, July 2.
