  • IL Warriors split in opener


    Indian Land split in its varsity opener Tuesday, Dec. 3 when the Warriors battled Culbertson at ILHS.

    The CHS girls, led by former Buford coach Joel Allen, took a 50-27 win, and the IL boys rebounded for the 78-71 victory.

  • Jackets split in home opener


    The Buford boys opened their regular-season hoops slate at home with the Lewisville Lions, hoping to make coach Garrett Hammond’s varsity hardwood debut a bright one, but the Lions had other plans.

    The Buford girls stayed unbeaten as the Lady Jackets prevailed in the opener.

    KERSHAW – Andrew Jackson opened its 2014-15 hoops season with a split with Class AA foe Lee Central in the AJ gym on Tuesday, Dec. 2.

    The game was not a surprise that it was a tough battle from the beginning for both Volunteers’ teams.

    The Buford High School wrestling team returns its share of veterans to give the Jackets solid hope for the 2014-15 mat campaign.

    The Jackets, under the leadership of 17-year veteran coach John Mahaffey, return four veterans and two grapplers who wrestled two seasons ago.

    The Buford High School varsity boys opened the preseason, traveling to West Florence High School over the holiday week, Nov. 22-26.

    The Jackets opened tournament play against eventual tournament champion Gray Collegiate out of West Columbia.

    The Lancaster Bowling Center will hold an organizational meeting for youth bowling on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 11.

    The meeting will be held for Lancaster Bowlopolis, ages 4-6 which use rails.

    The Lancaster County Parks and Recreation Commission youth soccer teams swept to Central District titles to earn bids to the state tournament Saturday, Nov. 22 at Buford High School’s Jackets Stadium.

    The LCPRC soccer stars will move on to the state tournament at Bluffton on Saturday, Dec. 6.
