    Students and parents from Lancaster hosted the Elon Park Elementary School Disc Golf Club in a competitive meet at the North Elementary School Disc Golf Course.

    The format featured a nine-hole round of stroke play followed by a round of best shot pairs competition.

    The quick-striking Rams scored 28 points in the first four minutes to key Rucker to a 36-0 win over the rival Mustangs.

    The Andrew Jackson Lady Volunteers are bound for the Class AA state volleyball championship after capturing the Class AA Upper State crown with a 3-1 win over Ninety Six High of Greenwood County on Wednesday night, Nov. 6 in the AJ gym.

    The AJ victory sends the Lady Vols to face Bishop England of Charleston for the Class AA state crown at White Knoll High School in Lexington where the match begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9.

    AJ, in front of a packed gym, prevailed over the stubborn Lady Wildcats, 25-10 before Ninety Six came back to win, 26-24.

    The Lancaster High School Lady Bruins’ golf team placed eighth in the Class AAAA state golf tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 29, in Greer.
    The LHS girls posted a 701 in the field of 16 teams.
    Lexington won with a 580 and Spartanburg was second with a 635.
    Baylee Evans shot a 162 over two days to lead the LHS girls. Emily Cox was next at 163.
    Carly Funderburk posted a 179. Hope Jewett carded a 197 and Kylie Rogers-Carpenter finished with a 228 for the Lady Bruins.

    KERSHAW – Central of Pageland continued its mastery of Region IV-AA foe Andrew Jackson, thumping the Volunteers, 35-0 at soggy Volunteer Stadium on Friday, Nov. 1.
    Central has defeated Andrew Jackson in 18 consecutive games.
    In a rain-soaked first half, Central scored four  times to put the Volunteers down, 28-0.
    Midway through the first quarter, Central employed its tried-and-true wishbone offense to cover 65 yards in eight plays, with Mitch Meadows scampering 11 yards for the score.

    ROCK HILL – The word frustrating was a part of Lancaster High School head football coach Bennie McMurray’s post-game comments and likely so.
    The Bruins dropped a 27-7 Region III-AAAA road loss to Rock Hill on Friday, Nov. 1 in what has become a frustrating season.
    “For the most part, it’s been like this,” said McMurray, who saw the Bruins drop their seventh straight loss.
