    The Kershaw Stingrays swim team will hold its registration for the 2014 season on Monday, March 10 and Thursday, March 13 from 4 to 6 p.m.at the Kershaw Bowling Alley.

    Swim suits and other items related to the swim season will also be ordered at that time.

  • LHS upbeat about softball

    The Lancaster High School softball team is optimistic about the 2014 season.

    Coach Kim Perry sports a young, but talented team which is bidding to improve on the team’s 12-10 finish from last spring.

    “We are looking forward to the upcoming season,” Perry said. “We have a lot of young girls, but they are loaded with talent and experience for such a young age.

  • Lady Jackets have new coach,...

    The 2014 Buford High School softball team sports a new coach and plenty of hope for a banner season this spring.

    The Lady Jackets will be led by first-year head coach Lael Allen, who came to BHS from Class AAAA Porter Ridge High School in Indian Trail, N.C.

    Allen guided the Porter Ridge High softball team for eight years, including the 2012 season when the PRHS Pirates won the state crown.

  • LHS captures kickoff classic

    The Lancaster High School Lady Bruins earned a measure of revenge and the Lugoff-Elgin Kickoff Classic soccer championship with a 4-1 win over Class AA county foe Indian Land.

    Indian Land defeated Lancaster, 3-2 to open play Friday, Feb. 28 at Lugoff-Elgin, but the Lady Bruins rebounded in the championship game with a 4-1 win.

    LHS senior Frances Whitesides scored three goals and Peyton Patterson tallied a goal in the championship match.

  • Lady Bruins lead winter honors

    Lancaster High School stars of the hoop, mat and cheers drew the blue and gold spotlight at the annual Bruins winter sports awards on Wednesday, March 5.

    Basketball, wrestling and cheerleading aces took one final bow to highlight the 2013-14 LHS winter sports campaign.

    The bulk of the Bruins limelight was on the Region III-AAAA champion Lady Bruins basketball team.

  • Crenshaw to lead young LHS...

    The Lancaster High School baseball team sports its share of new faces as the Bruins launch their 2014 season.

    The newest face is first-year head coach Paul Crenshaw, who has a young squad in his first spring guiding the LHS squad.

    The 2013 Bruins, who finished 10-12 and earned a Class AAAA Upper State playoff berth, were a senior team.

    The 2014 team has only six seniors and few returnees.

  • Lancers push mark to 12-7

    The University of South Carolina Lancaster Lancers pushed their baseball mark to 12-7 with a rain-shortened 5-2 win over the St. Andrews College junior varsity on Thursday, March 6 in Laurinburg, N.C.

    Matthew Justice, who worked two innings, was the winner to up his mark to 5-1.

    Rooke Crouch, Ryan Manore and Kyle Baldwin each worked an inning in relief.

    Jordan Williams led the Lancers’ offense with two hits and three RBIs.

    Lancaster and Andrew Jackson each posted two wins in Lancaster County Classic softball pool play games on Wednesday.

    Lancaster, in games at Buford, defeated the host Lady Jackets, 3-2 and McBee, 8-1.

    Unbeaten Andrew Jackson and Parkwood will meet for the championship in the Comporium Preseason baseball tournament at the Buford High School field at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 8.
