    In nine seasons at Lancaster High School, Bruins basketball coach Ricardo Priester has had 12 players sign to play college basketball.

    The latest is LHS senior E.J. Patterson who is headed to Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, N.C., to play for the Owls.

    The Lancaster Lady Bruins will wrap up regular-season Region III-AAAA soccer play today as they visit Northwestern in league play.

    The Lady Bruins are coming off a 4-1 win over Clover to give the Lancaster girls a season’s sweep of the Lady Blue Eagles.

    Andrew Jackson faces county rival Buford for the Class AA Upper State District IV softball championship Wednesday, May 7 at the Lady Volunteers field.

    AJ, unbeaten in the double-eliminatioin field, needs one win today at 5:30 to advance to the Class AA Upper State championship round.

    Buford High stayed unbeaten in postseason Class AA Upper State District III baseball play, while Indian Land stayed alive in the playoffs.

    Buford earned a Class AA Upper State district tournament title game bid with a 9-4 road win over Region III-AA champion Pelion on Saturday, May 3.

  • Rallings captures RWD4 checkers

     

    Blake Rallings captured an exciting win in the RWD4 Division at Lancaster Super Speedway on Saturday, May 3 to highlight action.

    The RWD4 front row had Shannon Barnhill and Blake Rallings. When the green flag waved, Barnhill, Rallings, Wes Helms and Larry Parr battled for the lead entering turn one.

    University of South Carolina Lancaster pitcher Chris Stewart has added his name to a growing list of Lancer baseball players who have signed to play out of state next season.

    UNC Pembroke has inked the Lancer’s No. 3 starter from this season to play his next two years as a Brave.

    The 6-2 righty from Batesburg is sitting on four wins for the Lancers and has struck out 30 batters.

    INDIAN LAND – Indian Land High School senior basketball player Leander McCall IV made Warriors’ hoops history Friday, May 2 in the ILHS media center.

    McCall, with his signing with the Wingate University Bulldogs, became the first IL boys basketball player to sign with a NCAA school, according to ILHS school and athletic officials.

    Andrew Jackson was scheduled to face York Comprehensive on Wednesday, April 30, but the match was cancelled due to pending bad weather.

    Fairfield Central’s Griffins did come to play Thursday, May 1 at AJ.

    The Griffins had a busy week, losing to Indian Land 5-0 on Tuesday and to Buford, 2-1 on Wednesday.

    Andrew Jackson blasted Eau Claire of Columbia, 26-0 top open the Class AA Upper State District IV softball playoffs on Thursday, May 1 at AJ.

    Lady Vols’ hurler Lindsey Robinson, 4-3, tossed a perfect game as she struck out 15 of 15 Lady Shamrocks batters she faced. Robinson ripped a triple to back her cause in the lopsided win.

    Cassidy McKittrick rapped four hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs.
