  • Jacket booters fall in second-...

    The Buford High men’s varsity team opened the Class AA Upper State soccer playoffs with a convincing 8-0 home win over Eau Claire on May 1.
    Senior Blaine Gossman had two goals, and added an assist. Junior Jesse Black also tallied twice for the Jackets. Seniors Jim Small, Nate Purser, and William Ingram each contributed a goal, and sophomore Logan Jaillette netted his first goal of his varsity career as he converted a penalty kick following an EC foul in the 18-yard box.
    Senior Bryton Davis also had a big hand in the scoring, adding four assists.

  • Vols, Jackets athletes in state...

    Andrew Jackson and Buford High School track athletes will compete in the Class AA state track meet this weekend.
    The AJ Lady Volunteers are led by Niyana Jones who is the top qualifier in the girls high jump at 5-02. Jones also qualified fourth in the long jump at 16 feet.
    Oshamiya Black placed eighth in the triple jump at 31-08.
    In the boys, AJ was led by Darrion Wright, third in the high jump with a 6-04 effrot.
    LaKyle McIlwain finished sixth in the 110 high hurldes in 16.31.

  • Bruins set for state meet

    Lancaster High School has a host of athletes who have qualified for the Class AAAA state track meet.

    The Bruins qualified at the state qualifier held at Sumter High School last Satuday.

    The LHS girls are led by sophomore Tierra Belk, who ran a 12.45 to place eighth.

    Belk also ran a leg on the seventh-place 4 x 100 relay. Belk, Quanie Simmons, Rekia Polk and Ashanti Talford ran a 49.47. The alternate is Mohongany Perry.

    In the boys 400 dash, Frederick Thompson placed third in 49.75.

  • Sizzling round wins Bruins 1st...

    Lancaster High School won its first-ever state golf championship Tuesday with a dazzling 10-shot comeback victory over Myrtle Beach High.
     “Winning as an individual is cool, but winning as a team is indescribable,” team captain Brady Hinkle said after the match. “I can’t put it into words how I feel.
    “It’s awesome. We couldn’t have done it with a better group of guys.”

  • Indian Land still proud of Lady...

    IRMO – As Indian Land High School Principal David Shamble prepared for the Class AAA girls state championship post-game awards ceremonies, he clutched the state runner-up silver medals.
    He said he wished he was going to present gold medals, like the Lady Warriors won last spring, but he wasn’t disappointed in the ILHS girls soccer team.
    “The Upper State champion isn’t too bad,” Shamble said. “These girls had a fantastic season.

  • Saints sign IL’s Daley

    INDIAN LAND – Indian Land High School star wrestler Kyle Daley will be on the mat at the next level.
    Daley, a three-time all-state wrestler, will be competing in college at Limestone in Gaffney.
    “I’m really pleased to have this opportunity to wrestle in college,” said Daley, who signed with the Saints on May 3 in the ILHS media center. “I like the coaches and Limestone has a good, strong wrestling program.

  • Mosley captures Cauthen Motors...

    Lancaster Motor Speedway action Saturday night was wild  and crazy.

    The top race was in the Renegade Division with the Cauthen Motors Renegade Rumble paying $2,000 to win.

    Andrew Baker and Travis Mosley were on the front row, with  Josh Langley and Tyler Love on row two.

    The third row featured Brandy Baker and Brady Kirk, with Andy Hodges and Andy Blackwood on the fourth row.

    Any of those drivers can win anywhere in the Renegade Division at any track.

  • LHS Upper State qualifiers set

    Lancaster High School qualified a host of athletes for the Class AAAA Upper State meet at the Region III-AAAA track meet in York on May 1.

    The LHS boys were fifth and the Lady Bruins placed sixth.

    The Bruins were led by Frederick Thompson, who was second in the 400 meters and ran a leg on the runner-up 4 x 400 relay, which included Jaelen Harfield, Dontavious Blair and Kendrick Thompson.

    Frederick Thompson teamed with Harfield, Janard Clark and Nehemiah Bailey to place third in the 4 x 100 relay.

  • Davis, Henry lead Warriors in...

    SPARTANBURG – The Indian Land High School Warriors have qualified a host of athletes for the Class AAA state meet this weekend in Columbia.

    The ILHS boys were led by senior Marlin Davis who won the 100 and 200 meter dash events at the Class AAA Upper State qualifier at Broome High School in Spartanburg County. The top four fnishers advance to the state meet at Spring Valley High School.

    Davis ran a 10.70 to win the 100 and posted a 21.74 to win the 200.

    He was also second in the 400-meter dash in 49.02.

  • Lady Warriors Upstate champs

    The Indian Land Lady Warriors will defend their Class AAA state girls soccer championship.

    The ILHS girls captured the Class AAA Upper State title for the second straight season, rolling to a 6-0 road win over Woodruff High School on Monday night.

    The Lady Warriors, 19-3-1, built a 4-0 halftime lead and added pair of second-half goals on the way to their fourth straight shutout win in postseason play.
