  • Jackets, Warriors post playoff...

    Buford stayed unbeaten in postseason baseball play, while Indian Land stayed alive in the playoffs.

    Buford earned a Class AA Upper State district tournament title game bid with a 9-4 road win over Region III-AA champion Pelion on Saturday, May 3.

    BHS, which defeated North Central, 9-5 to open the playoffs on Thursday, May 1, will be at home to face the IL vs. Pelion winner for the district crown. Buford will need one win Wednesday, May 7. If the Jackets fall in game one, they will play a second game Wednesday at Buford Park.

  • Warriors booters edge LHS Bruins...

     

    Second-ranked Indian Land improved to 15-3 on the season with a 3-2 win over Class AAAA county rival Lancaster at Warrior Stadium on Wednesday, April 30.

    IL’s Zac Patterson, Garrett Gerdes and Joseph Parsons each tallied a goal to lift the Warriors to the win over the Bruins.

    Lancaster and Andrew Jackson Jackson softball teams will be in the host role for second round playoff games.

    The LHS girls, rebounding from a 3-0 road loss to Mauldin, will be at home Friday, May 2 to face Dorman in a 6 p.m. elimination game.

    Dorman dropped a 4-2 loss to Easley on Thursday, May 1 in the first round of the Class AAAA Upper State softball playoffs.

    Andrew Jackson, the Region IV-AA regular-season champion, will host the Buford-North Central winner on Saturday, May 3 at 3 p.m.

     Former Buford High School softball star Hannah Knight has earned the 2014 Region X Player of the Year.

     Lancaster Super Speedway will host seven action-packed divisions of racing Saturday, May 3. Divisions running will be SECA Crate Late Models, Pro Street, Crate Sportsman, Super Street, Rear Wheel Drive 4-Cylinders, U.S. Bonding Vintage and M&M Garage Muffler & Tire Extreme 4.

  • Baseball, softball playoffs set

     

    Buford capped its regular-season baseball play with a home sweep of future playoff opponent North Central on Friday, April 25 at Buford Park.

    The Jackets, 12-7, 6-4, won 7-4, 7-6 for the sweep of the Knights.
