  • Lady Warriors drill Crescent

    The defending state champion Indian Land Lady Warriors continue to roll in the Class AAA Upper State girls soccer playoffs.

    The IL girls opened the postseason with a 14-0 win over Southside of Greenville on Monday and followed with an 8-0 rout of Crescent of Iva on Wednesday at the ILHS Reservation.

    Indian Land led 2-0 at the half and added six second-half goals on the way to the win over CHS.

    Kelsey Long and Shelby Ryberg each netted three goals, and Summer Bishop added two goals.

    Emily Gerdes and Carleigh Werner each had an assist.

  • Lady Warriors rebound, win district title

    INDIAN LAND – The Indian Land Lady Warriors posted a split, but it was good enough to have them advance to the Class AAA Upper State softball championship series.

    The ILHS girls, unbeaten in the Class AAA Upstate District IV tournament, dropped a 9-7 loss to Broome, but rebounded to take an 8-3 win to capture the crown in the double-elimination district tournament Wednesday at the Lady Warriors field.

    The Lady Warriors’ five-run win advances them to the Class AAA Upper State title round to face Woodruff today in a 6 p.m. game at WHS.

  • Lady Vols win two, take district crown

    The Region IV-AA champion Andrew Jackson Lady Volunteers did it the hard way, but the determined AJ girls got it done on the diamond.

    AJ, in a do-or-die situation, notched two wins over host Liberty High School to capture the Class AA Upper State District IV softball championship on Wednesday.

    The 17-9 Lady Vols, who fell to Liberty 9-7 at home Saturday, came back to sweep the Lady Red Devils on Wednesday.

    AJ captured the district title to advance to the Class AA Upstate title series, downing Liberty 8-3 and 10-9.

  • Buford sweeps district championship

    BUFORD – Buford, with three straight wins, is headed back to the Class AA Upper State title series to defend its softball crown for the third straight season.

    The Lady Jackets, 15-8, blanked Ninety Six, 4-0 to earn a bid to the Class AA Upper State championship series Wednesday at the BHS field.

    BHS, the Region IV-AA runner-up, won three straight to notch the crown, including the home shutout of the Lady Wildcats.

  • Revels’ blast lifts LHS to district title

    Lancaster used a fourth-inning power surge to secure the Class AAAA District III softball championship Wednesday at the LHS field.

    The LHS girls, 16-3, snapped a scoreless draw in one big swing, with senior catcher Gracie Revels belting a two-run homer in the fourth inning to spark the Lady Bruins to a 2-1 win over Travelers Rest.

    The Lady Bruins’ win sends them to Union County to face the UCHS Lady Yellow Jackets in the Class AAAA Upper State double-elimination tournament title round today at 6:30 p.m.

  • Jackets post 2 wins to cap regular season soccer

    The Buford varsity boys soccer team capped regular season play last week with a 7-0 win at Lewisville on Wednesday, and a 9-1 home win on “Senior Night” on Thursday.

    In the win at Lewisville, the halftime score was 6-0 with goals scored by seniors Zayn Sutton, Blaine Gossman, Nate Purser, Jim Small, and junior Jesse Black.

  • LHS wins tennis playoffs opener

    The Region III-AAAA champion Lancaster High School boys tennis defeated Airport High School of Region IV-AAAA, 5-1 at the USC-Lancaster tennis courts in the first round of Class AAAA Upper State playoffs on Thursday.

    The Bruins, who are region champions for the second straight season, advance to round two Tuesday.

  • IL cruises to lopsided win

    INDIAN LAND – Class AAA defending girls state soccer champion Indian Land rolled to a 14-0 win over Southside of Greenville to open the Lady Warriors’ 2018 playoffs on Monday at the ILHS Reservation.

    Kelsey Long scored four goals, while Summer Bishop had three scores.

    Emily Gerdes and Carleigh Werner each had two goals.

    Samantha Ammann, Shelby Ryberg and Leah Lockman each had a goal.

    Tatiana Ramirez, Brianna Bishop and Kiley Waterbury each had an assist.

  • Lady Bruins win, host Travelers Rest

    Lancaster stayed unbeaten and advanced to the Class AAAA Upper State District III softball championship game with a 5-2 win over Daniel High School of Clemson on Saturday afternoon.

    LHS senior hurler Summer Clinton tossed a five-hitter and struck out one. Clinton, 12-3, had a shutout to the seventh when DHS scratched for two runs. She walked three.

    Clinton had a pair of hits and scored twice to boost the LHS offense.

    Gracie Revels supplied a triple, single and drove in two runs.

  • Warriors rally to win district crown

    INDIAN LAND – Indian Land High School baseball coach Joey Robinson’s jersey was soaked and he couldn’t have been happier.

    He and the Warriors were all wet, not in a bad way, and soaking in their latest diamond success.

    “I’ll take it every time,” Robinson said.

    Robinson’s top was doused in a post-game celebration after the Warriors rallied for an exciting 6-5 win over Chapman High School to give ILHS the Class AAA District IV baseball crown and a berth in the Class AAA Upstate title series.
