  • Jackets swarm Stallions twice

    The Buford Yellow Jackets, on a diamond roll, blitzed the Lee Central Stallions in a Region IV-AA doubleheader, 13-0 and 21-1 on Wednesday in Bishopville.
    The Jackets, who opened the week with a 7-2 win over Lancaster, improved to 5-3 overall, 4-2 in region play.
    Brayden Phillips, in the opener, drilled two hits, scored a run and had a stolen base. Phillips also worked two frames and struck out five.
    Josh Lilly ripped a hit, drove in two runs and scored a run. Caleb Payne tallied twice and had two stolen bases.

  • ILHS girls net road soccer win

    The Indian Land High School girls soccer team improved to 2-6 on the season with a 3-0 road win over the Governor’s School on Monday night.
    Carleigh Werner tallied three goals for the Lady Warriors, who led 2-0 at the half. Kiley Waterbury had an assist in the ILHS win.
    The Lady Warriors had 23 shots to four for the Governor’s School.
    IL keepers Serenity Collier and Danielle Griffith teamed for the shutout as Collier had three saves and Griffith one.

  • Lacaster Bruins top Westwood in soccer

    The Lancaster Bruins upped their Region III-AAAA mark to 2-1, 4-3 overall with a 5-2 win over Westwood High School.
    Mason Green tallied twice, while Benjamin Guevara, Jason Ramos and Jonathan Baker each added one goal.
    Aydan Saldana, Johan Deras and Guevara each had an assist.
    Warriors rip Keenan
    Indian Land ripped the Keenan Raiders in Region IV-AAA boys soccer, 13-0 on Tuesday night.
    The Warriors outshot LHS, 30-4.

  • Bruins lose 4-2 in tennis match

    Lancaster High School Bruins Boys Tennis dropped a 4-2 loss to Class AAAAA foe Rock Hill High School in a non-region match.

    Isaac Thomas (L) defeated Vic Villamor (RH),  6-1, 6-0
    Henry Sharp (RH) defeated Brevon McKinney, 3-6, 6-2, 9-4 (tiebreaker)
    Connor Parman (L) defeated Whitt Strickland (RH), 6-3, 6-0
    Jeremy Deller (RH) defeated Jakob Sapp (L), 6-1, 6-2
    Henry Futch (RH) defeated Preston Bailey (L), 6-1, 6-1

  • Lady Warriors solid for softball season

    The 2019 Indian Land Lady Warriors are off to a fast start on the diamond and look to continue their shining success under veteran coach Monica Barfield.
    Indian Land was 3-0 on the season to open the week.
    The Lady Warriors sport six returning starters off the ILHS softball team which advanced to the Class AAA Upper State title series.
    The Lady Warriors, on the way to the Upstate championship series, captured the Region IV-AAA championship and Class AAA District IV softball crown.
    The Lady Warriors return their share of experience from the 2018 team.

  • Lady Jackets top rival Bruins

    The Buford High School girls’ softball team improved to 7-2 with an 11-4 win over county rival Lancaster High School on Monday.
    Yancey Dingler hurled the BHS win, posting seven strikeouts and a walk.
    Dingler, at the bat, delivered two hits and drove in a run.
    Jamaya Miller took the loss for the Lady Bruins.
    Hunter Allen led the Lady Jackets with three hits, a stolen base and two RBIs.
    Emily Taylor had two hits and two RBIs, Kayley Stroud slammed a home run and drove in two runs.

  • Clark leads Warriors basketball honors

    INDIAN LAND – Indian Land High School junior guard Destin Clark, with little surprise, led the Warriors hoops honors.
    Clark, who averaged 30.1 points a game, was the lone ILHS player to earn All-Region IV-AAA honors this season.
    Clark also earned the team’s Offensive Award. In addition to his 30.1 scoring average, Clark grabbed 3.2 rebounds a game this season for the 4-15 Warriors, who went 1-7 in region play.

  • Jackets' Bufford to play at Newberry

    The Buford High School conference room was crowded with a positive buzz for a Yellow Jackets football ace Friday afternoon.
    There was good reason as BHS star receiver-defensive back Dwayne Bufford, also a stellar student, set his future as family, friends, coaches and school administrators watched with interest.
    Most donned red Newberry College T-shirts in support of Bufford’s choice of the Wolves.

  • Jackets sting Bruins for 7-2 win

    Buford built a 4-0 lead on the way to a 7-2 win over county rival Lancaster High School on Monday night at Doomsday Corner.
    LHS rallied to make it 4-1 after five innings, but the Jackets answered with a pivotal three-run sixth inning to seal the five-run win.
    Jonathan Belk, in five innings of work, was the winner, yielding two hits, three walks and a run. He struck out five LHS batters.
    Logan Deese went two-thirds of an inning and yielded a hit, run and two walks. He fanned two.

  • LHS netters blank Blazers

    Lancaster High School Bruins boys tennis blanked Region III-AAAA opponent Ridge View High School, 7-0 on Thursday.
    The win over the Blazers kept the LHS boys unbeaten on the 2019 tennis season.
