    The Lancaster Bruins upped their record to 2-3 with a 27-24 road win over the Lugoff-Elgin Demons on Friday night.

  • Vols roll, even mark

    Andrew Jackson evened its record at 2-2 on the season, rolling to a 28-0 home win over North Central to open Region IV-AA football play Friday night.

  • Warriors fall to Rams

    Indian Land dropped a home loss to Chesterfield in a 48-25 loss at the Reservation on Friday night.

  • Bruins fall to West Meck

    CHESTER – Lancaster dropped a 14-7 loss to West Mecklenburg High School of Charlotte in the Chester County Jamboree on Friday night at Chester High School.

    The Hawks, with the big play, struck for a 14-0 lead and held on for the seven-point win.

    A LHS fumble led to the Hawks’ first score.

    A snap after the turnover, West Meck quarterback Preston Brown heaved a 55-yard pass to Khafre Brown at the Bruins’ 10.

    Four plays later, Jamari Taylor scored on a two-yard run.

  • Jackets, Vols fall in Camden jamboree

    CAMDEN – The Buford Yellow dropped a 19-0 loss to Class AAAA foe Westwood High School of Blythewood in the Camden Shrine Jamboree on Friday night. The Redhawks took an early lead with a touchdown and a recovered fumble for a touchdown. The teams were balanced in choices of plays, splitting equally between runs and passes.

  • North take Classic win

    The North forces – four North Carolina high schools – prevailed in the 12th annual North-South Kickoff Classic at Lancaster Memorial Stadium on Saturday night.

    Buford, in the scrimmage, opened with a 14-7 win over Northwest Cabarrus and Weck Mecklenburg evened the score at 21-all with a 14-7 win over Andrew Jackson.

    Ardrey Kell topped Indian Land in a 14-7 win to give the North a 35-28 win.

    Lancaster and South Mecklenburg battled to a scoreless draw to cap the action.

  • Teams focusing on jamboree play

    Lancaster County high schools’ football focus will center on jamboree play tonight and Saturday.

    Three Lancaster County prep teams will be in action at two different sites tonight.

    Lancaster will play in the Chester County Jamboree at Chester High School, where the Bruins will battle West Mecklenburg High School of Charlotte at 7 p.m.

    Play opens with Lewisville battling Great Falls High School at 6 p.m. The 8 p.m. nightcap has the host Cyclones meeting Hough High School of Cornelius, N.C.

  • Teams picking up pace with scrimmages

    Lancaster County high school football teams are learning more about their squads as they compete in scrimmages this week.

    Teams have completed two scrimmages, or are working toward a second clash this week.

    Host Lancaster and Buford tangled in a controlled scrimmage Monday at Memorial Stadium.

    “I thought it went well,” LHS coach Bobby Collins said. “At the start, we were sluggish, but picked up the pace.

  • Scott pleased with Lady Jackets camp play

    New Buford High School girls basketball coach Susan Scott is encouraged with her team.

    The Lady Yellow Jackets participated in the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) camp held June 29-30 at Lander University in Greenwood.

    On the court, the Lady Jackets went 3-2, with wins over Laurens Academy, Easley High School and Chapman High School.

    Scott said the Lady Jackets fell to Westside High School of Anderson and Woodruff.

  • Collins likes LHS scrimmage start

    ROCK HILL – Lancaster High School fifth-year head coach Bobby Collins said he was pleased with the Bruins following their opening scrimmage at District Three Stadium in Rock Hill on Thursday morning.

    The two-hour session opened with the Bruins meeting host Northwestern High School of Rock Hill.

    LHS, coming off a 3-7 finish last season, also battled Blythewood High School and Woodmont High School of Piedmont.
