  • Polk paces CPTC in Simpsonville meet
    Staff Reports The Columbus Parker Track Club captured 69 medals and 33 ribbons in a youth meet held in Simpsonville. Rekia Polk, in the 10-under girls age group, earned three gold medals to pace the CPTC. The team notched 19 gold medals, 30 silver and 20 bronze medals. The CPTC, a Lancaster area youth track team, also earned   13 fourth-place ribbons, nine fifth-place ribbons and 11 sixth-place ribbons at the meet. 10-under girls
  • Juniors launch golf season
          Dalton Bradley paced play as the Lancaster chapter of the S.C. Junior Golf Association opened its regular-season tournament schedule Monday at the Lancaster Golf Club.
  • LCPRC salutes baseball champs
    This year the Lancaster County Parks and Recreation Commission Little League baseball program, sanctioned through Little League, crowned three regular-season champions. The Coach Pitch league, for 7-8-year-olds, had eight teams throughout the county. All Hours Plumbing from the Indian Land area took the regular season title.
  • Former IL hoops star honored at Erskine
          Former Indian Land High School basketball star Jean Marie Harris received two honors at the annual Erskine College Athletic Banquet co-hosted by the Flying Fleet Club and Aramark last month in Due West.
  • Hammond scores golf albatross at LGC
          Lancaster golfer Garrett Hammond scored a rare golf shot Monday at the Lancaster Golf Club.
  • Junior golfers to open play Monday
    The Lancaster chapter of the S.C. Junior Golf Association tees off on its 17th season on Monday at the Lancaster Golf Club. The LJGA begins play at 8 a.m. with play for youngsters, ages 6-18.
  • Juniors blank Rock Hill
    The Lancaster Post 31 junior team continued its winning ways with a 6-0 League V Legion baseball win over Rock Hill Post 34 on Thursday night. The shutout road win pushed the juniors record to 5-0 on the season.
  • USCL tennis nets top 25 ranking
    The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the final rankings for the NJCAA 2011 season and the USC Lancaster Lancers finished No. 24th in the country. This is the school’s first national ranking and it comes on the heels of the team’s trip to the national championship at Collin College in Plano, Texas.
  • Recreation swim season opens Tuesday
    The Lancaster County Parks and Recreation summer swim team season opens this week with a new format for 2011. The Lancaster County recreation swim program will be divided into two teams, the Lancaster Makos and the Lancaster Tigers.
