  • Lancers drop twin bill at Newberry
    The University of South Carolina at Lancaster Lancers dropped a pair of non-region losses to the Newberry College junior varsity on Wednesday, February 20. The Newberry Junior Wolves took an 8-6 win over the Lancers in the opener and notched a 2-1 victory in game two.
  • Dolphins edge Lancers in 4-1 road loss
    The University of South Carolina Lancaster Lancers will look to get back on track today when they travel to Newberry for a twin bill with the Newberry College junior varsity baseball team. The Lancers saw their 2013 baseball record fall to 3-3 with a 4-1 road to Brunswick Community College in Supply, N.C., on Saturday afternoon.
  • Lady Lancers drop three games
          The University of South Carolina Lady Lancers dropped three games in recent softball play. The USCL women, 0-8 on the season, fell to Spartanburg Methodist, 3-0, and 3-1 on Sunday, Feb. 10.
  • Lancers take two in home opener
          The University of South Carolina Lancaster Lancers pushed their baseball mark to 3-2 with a doubleheader sweep of USC Salkehatchie on Sunday, Feb. 10 at the Lancaster High School baseball field.
  • Rucker sweeps South to cap unbeaten seasons
    The Rucker Rams put the finishing touches on perfect seasons, sweeping rival South Middle School on Thursday, Feb. 7 in the Lancaster High School gym Each Rucker team won in impressive fashion on the way to completing perfect 12-0 marks for the 2012-13 basketball season.
  • Lady Lancers drop pair
    The USC Lancaster Lady Lancers softball team dropped two losses to the Columbia College junior varsity in games on Friday, Feb. 1. In the opener, Columbia College rolled to a 15-6 win over USCL as Kayla Lloyd took the loss. Lloyd, in four frames, allowed 10 hits, 15 runs – seven earned, a walk and fanned two.
  • Lancers top Limestone for first baseball win
          The University of South Carolina at Lancaster notched its first baseball win of the 2013 season, taking a 13-2 win over the Limestone junior varsity on Wednesday, Feb. 6 in Gaffney.
  • Lancers fall twice at Salkehatchie
    The University of South Carolina Lancaster Lancers opened their season, dropping two games to USC Salkehatchie in Allendale on Sunday, Feb. 3. The Indians swept the Lancers, 10-8 and 3-1.
  • Welch, Rogers post LGC aces
    A pair of Lancaster area golfers posted aces during recent play at the Lancaster Golf Club. Billy Welch carded a hole-in-one on No. 15 where he used a five iron.  Welch was playing in a group which included Delma Sawyer, Charles Brace and Carl Vincent.
  • Belk's hoping Niners strike Super gold
      It has been nearly 40 years since Bill Belk played for the San Francisco 49ers, but he will have his game day focus on his old team late this afternoon in New Orleans. “Once a 49er, always a 49er,” said Belk, a Lancaster native who now resides in Columbia.
