  • Sowell wins Kershaw Golf Club title
     Andrew Jackson High School standout golfer Logan Sowell shot a 141 to capture the Kershaw Golf Club championship on Saturday, July 20. Sowell shot a 72 in the opening round and followed with a 69 to post a two-shot win over Corey Robinson.
  • AA stars battling in regional
      The Lancaster Dixie Baseball AA stars are carrying the banner for the local youth baseball program this week as they participate in the Dixie Youth Baseball AA Regional in Walterboro.
  • Sowell shines in Small tourney
      Logan Sowell capped quite day in the final round of the two-day Roy Small Junior Championship golf tournament on Tuesday, July 23. The Roy Small Junior Championship is played in memory of the late Roy Small, a member of the Lancaster Athletic Hall of Fame and an avid supporter of golf junior in his lifetime.
  • Sutton places second in Thornblade Classic
      Lancaster junior golfer Anthony “T” Sutton placed second in the Blade Classic in Greenville on July 16-17. The Blade Classic is considered the state’s top junior golf event and is by invitation only.
  • Six juniors notch 4th wins at Kershaw
      Six junior golfers registered their fourth wins of the season to highlight action in the Lancaster chapter of the S.C. Junior Golf Association tournament at the Kershaw Golf Club on Monday, July 15.
  • Sumter foils 14 stars’ run
      Sumter played the spoiler, knocking the Lancaster all-stars out of the Dixie Boys 14 state tournament at Aiken’s Citizens Park on Thursday, July 25. Lancaster, coming off a dramatic 12-10 win over Aiken, was the lone tournament unbeaten, while Sumter had one loss in the double-elimination field.
  • Dixie Boys 14 stars roll
      The Lancaster Dixie Boys 14 all-stars stayed unbeaten in the state tournament in Aiken, topping McLeod Park of Florence, 13-8 Monday, July 22. Lancaster, 3-0 in the field, tallied four runs in the top of the seventh, with Spencer Funderburk lacing a two-run double to highlight a key four-run frame.
  • Upstate teams halt P-31
      Upper State teams foiled the Lancaster Post 31 teams’ playoff baseball hopes. The Greenville Generals swept the Lancaster P-31 senior team with a 9-6 win Friday, July 19 at Eggleton Field.
  • LGC pin flags to fly in Mitchell's memory
      Quiet is the norm on the golf course, especially around greens, but this occasion was different. The morning of Wednesday, July 17, fellow golfers and friends of the late Eddie Mitchell, who died June 14, took time out for a special tribute.
  • Two first-time winners in LJGA play at Chester
      The Lancaster chapter of the S.C. Junior Golf Association opened the second half of its 2013 season July 8 with a visit to the Chester Golf Club where two juniors posted their first wins of the campaign. Marshall Deese, in the boys 6-7 age group, shot a 25 over five holes for his first win this season.
