  • Dixie Baseball honors top performers
        Lancaster Dixie Baseball honored top players, coaches and teams at the annual LDB Awards Day at the Wylie Park Complex on Saturday, June 7.
  • CPTC nets 46 medals at LR meet
      The Columbus Parker Track Club earned 46 medals at a meet held at Lower Richland High School in Hopkins earlier this spring. The CPTC, a Lancaster youth track team, was led by Rekia Polk and Alexanderia Williams who had two firsts each in the meet.
  • LJGA opens 2014 season Monday
     The Lancaster chapter of the S.C. Junior Golf Association launches its 20th season with the 2014 opener at the Lancaster Golf Club on Monday, June 9. The Lancaster chapter of the S.C. Junior Golf Association is open to youth golfers, ages 6-18 who must be enrolled in school.
  • Mrs. Paul, Coach Watson top-notch folks
      The old heartstrings received a strong tug the notable week in mid-May with the news of the passing of Mrs. Barbara Paul and coach Joe Watson Sr. In a nutshell, we lost a pair fine people.
  • Juniors ignite early, club Clover
      The Lancaster Post 31 junior baseball team ignited early and rolled to a shutout win to improve to 4-2 on the 2014 season. The junior team, coming off a 2-1 victory over York Post 66 in a pitchers’ duel, broke out the bats to blast Clover Post 38, 11-0 on Thursday night, June 5 at Eggleton Field.
  • Thornwell honored twice at Gamecock Gala
      Former Lancaster High School basketball star Sindarius Thornwell was among the honorees at the recent Gamecock Gala. The event, held at the Colonial Life Arena, honored University of South Carolina student-athletes for their accomplishments during the 2013-14 campaign.
  • Juniors edge York, 2-1
      The Lancaster Post 31 junior team captured a tight win to up its record to 3-2 on Tuesday, June 3. The Lancaster juniors, in their home opener at Eggleton Field, snapped a 1-1 tie with a single run in the bottom of the sixth to take the 2-1 win over York Post 66.
  • Francis Marion signs Hannah Knight
      FLORENCE – Francis Marion University softball coach Stacey Vallee has announced the addition of three transfers from Spartanburg Methodist College, including former Buford High School softball star Hannah Knight.
  • ‘Team Waxhaw’ tops field
      “Team Waxhaw,” with a 15-under 57, captured first place in the fourth annual “Fore the Kids” golf tournament at the Edgewater Golf Club on Friday, May 30. “Team Waxhaw” included the foursome of Dave Godfrey, Jerry Payne, Walter Covington and Ken Costanza.
  • AJ High softball clinic Friday
       The annual Andrew Jackson High School Lady Volunteers softball clinic is Friday, June 6. The clinic will be for girls ages 6-14. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the clinic runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch is provided .
