  • City Council tweaks budget plan

    Trash pick-up in the city of Lancaster may look more like a robotics demonstration starting this summer.

    City staff have added $40,000 to the proposed 2013-14 budget to buy a “swing arm” that will attach to one of the solid waste pick-up trucks. The driver of the truck will operate the device, which will lift curbside trash cans, dump them into the truck’s trash bed and place the cans back in their place.

  • Warrants issued for shooting suspect

    Warrants have been issued in the hunt for a Lancaster man wanted in connection with the shooting of another man in both his legs Tuesday, June 4. 

    Authorities are searching for Markevious Demond Samuel, 21, 1344 Locustwood Ave., after a 43-year-old Lancaster man was rushed to a hospital with shotgun wounds to both legs, said Lancaster Police Department Capt. Scott Grant. 

  • Heavy rain headed this way

    Get ready to get wet.

    According to the National Weather Service, heavy rain could drench this part of the Carolinas today as moisture from Tropical Storm Andrea collides with a lingering cold front.

    The Associated Press reported Thursday, June 6, that up to 4 inches of rain could fall across the state through Saturday. 

    The National Hurricane Center has issued a tropical storm warning for Andrea along the Grand Strand. The heaviest rainfall is expected along the coast, where the center of the storm is expected to move.
