  • Two men sentenced in Morris murder

    One year and a few days after Lancaster native Donald Morris was found shot to death inside his home, two local men were sentenced in the case Thursday, June 20, and Friday, June 21.

    Jeremy L. Thomas, 24, and Brian Keith Campbell, 20, both of Lancaster, received varying sentences for their roles in the burglary, robbery and murder of Morris in two separate incidents, which occurred on June 13 and June 18, 2012, according to a press release from 6th Circuit Solicitor Doug Barfield.

  • Man needs stitches after surprise assault

    A Kershaw resident needed stitches after he was reportedly attacked by two men Friday, June 21.

    The victim, 37, told deputies he had left his Spring Street home early that morning and walked to a home on East Third Street in Kershaw. He was looking for a man who lives there, according to a Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

    The man wasn’t there, but his girlfriend was. The victim said he left.

    When the victim reached Carolina Street, he saw the man.

  • Motes posts exciting Extreme Four win

    David  “Pork Chop” Motes captured a photo finish win in the Extreme 4 (FWD) main event at Lancaster Super Speedway on Saturday, June 22.

    The front row was Thomas Whitaker and David Laney. When the green flag fell, Whitaker, Laney, Motes and Jake Fitzgerald battled for the lead.

  • AA Dixie stars roll in tournament play

    The Lancaster Dixie Baseball AA all-stars are 2-0 in district tournament play after impressive wins over Union and Lewisville in Union.

    On Monday, June 24, the Lancaster AA stars rolled to a 13-6 win over Lewisville.

  • Tigers down Chester in road swim triumph

     

       

    The Lancaster Tigers topped Chester 243-150 in a meet held at the Chester pool on Tuesday, June 18.

  • Tigers topple Makos in swim team victory

    The Lancaster Tigers stayed unbeaten on the season with a 358-203 win over the Lancaster Makos on Saturday, June 22 at the Lancaster County pool.

  • Brown-Hatcher Engagement

    Chris and Marcia Brown announce the engagement of their daughter, Kerri Rebekah Brown, all of Lancaster, to Joshua Lee Hatcher of McColl.
    The wedding is planned for 3:30 p.m. Nov. 9, 2013, at Rutledge Chapel at the University of South Carolina.
    Miss Brown is the granddaughter of Jean Lefler of Salisbury, N.C., and Hulon and Bonnie Brown of Sanford, N.C. She is a 2007 graduate of Lancaster High School and a 2013 graduate of the South Carolina College of Pharmacy. She works for CVS Pharmacy as a pharmacist.

  • Blackwell-Storey Engagement

    Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wallace Blackwell of Lancaster announce the engagement of their daughter, Heather Nicole Blackwell, to James Wallace Storey, both of Greenville.
    The wedding is planned for 6 p.m. Aug. 3, 2013, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Greenville.

  • Vincent-Akers Wedding

    Lyndsey Nicole Vincent and Yale Thomas-Creston Akers were married at 5 p.m. Oct. 20, 2012, at Brakefield at Riverwalk in Rock Hill by the Rev. Mike Hammond.
    The bride is the daughter of Dale and Fran Vincent of Heath Springs. She is the granddaughter of Bernadine King and the late James C. King and of Corrie Vincent and the late Frank Vincent. She earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Charleston Southern University and works as a staff assistant for Sen. Lindsey Graham in Washington, D.C.
