    INDIAN LAND – Andrew Jackson’s ball-hawking defense came up with six turnovers and a blocked punt to lead the Volunteers to a 47-24 victory against Indian Land on IL homecoming night at the Reservation on Friday, Oct. 25.

  • Big Thursday golf tourney to tee off Nov. 21 at LGC

     

     The University of South Carolina team, comprised of Gamecocks and Lancers supporters, will seek to defend its title in the 2013 Big Thursday Scholarship golf tournament.

    The 12th annual golf tournament is set for Thursday, Nov. 21 at the Lancaster Golf Club.

  • Roddey Edgewater champ

     

    Mike Roddey shot a 154 (78-76) to capture the Edgewater Golf Club championship held Sept. 21-22.

    Roddey posted a five-shot win, with Rick Arrington finishing second with a 159 (78-81).

  • Pumpkin spice: A passing fad or classic fall favorite?

    Ten years ago, Starbucks introduced its Pumpkin Spiced Latte. The mix of Starbucks’ signature espresso, milk, whipped cream and a mysterious pumpkin spice syrup was surprisingly good.
    The drink has now become a fall staple for many coffee drinkers. It was different, and maybe that’s what made it so popular.
    Now, however, a trip down the grocery store aisles in late October reveals food companies have gone “pumpkin spice crazy.”

    Haunted Junkyard

    Mahaffey’s Used Cars and Parts, 1475 N. Rocky River Road, will hold its sixth annual haunted junk yard 7-11 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, and Thursday, Oct. 31.
