    Lancaster Motor Speedway is hosting six exciting divisions of racing Saturday night, Sept. 22.

    This will be the final points race on the 2012 season for LMS.

    The LHS Lady Bruins tennis team dropped their first  match of the season to region leader Clover 5-2 on Wednesday night in Lancaster.

    The lone wins for the Lady Bruins came from the top of the ladder with Lyndsey Hegler at No. 1 singles and Sara Hicks at No. 2 singles.

    HARRISONBURG, Va. – Trevor Banks, a former University of South Carolina Lancaster golfer and Buford High School links ace, used a record-setting effort to win the Tom Kinder Memorial golf tournament at Lake View Golf Course in Harrisonburg, Va., on Monday.

    For many years, Lancaster County Historical Commission has wanted a building to use as a museum.

    Lancaster County was one of only two counties in S.C. which did not have a county museum, so when the historic courthouse was renovated, Lancaster County council gave LCHC three of the four rooms on the first floor to use as a museum. The fourth room is the county welcome center, which was also much-needed.

    The name of Andrual Rashan Ross may sound familiar to both law enforcement and residents, as he also made headlines during a drug raid last year.
    Ross, who is wanted in connection with the shooting of a man outside Waffle House last weekend, was one of seven people arrested during the search of an Usher Road home in October 2011.

  • Sheriff’s office gets $8K grant from SLED

    The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office will use state grant money to expand emergency communications across county lines.
    On Sept. 10, the sheriff’s office received an $8,100 grant from the S.C. Law Enforcement Division’s Office of Homeland Security to fund a “communications interoperability project,” according to a media release issued Monday.

    The two Lancaster Fire Department rafts parked on a trailer at the Lancaster County Emergency Management office on White Street on Monday, Sept. 17, were not there for a late afternoon fishing trip. They were there just in case.
    While city firefighters used the center for a refresher course on aerial operations, LFD Chief Chuck Small was watching the weather radar.
