  • Report details murder

    ROCK HILL – The moments immediately following a fatal shooting Sunday in Rock Hill involving three Lancaster men were detailed in a police report released this week.
    Rock Hill police officers reported being flagged down by a woman frantically waving her arms outside the Rock Hill Motel early Sunday morning, according to a Rock Hill Police Department incident report. Police responded to the motel about a report of a shooting.

    There are several events on tap this weekend if you're looking for fun and a little fellowship.
    Promotions group See Lancaster SC is hosting the final installment in its downtown summer outdoor movie series.
    Saturday's feature film will be “The Blind Side,” which stars Sandra Bullock. The 2009 award-winning movie chronicles the life of an impoverished child who was adopted and later went on to achieve stardom in the NFL.

  • Foster Review Care board wins state honor

    The local Foster Care Review Board was recently named the State Foster Care Review Board of the Year for 2010. Its members were honored at a luncheon Aug. 11 at Charley’s Cafe.
    The regional board, which covers Lancaster, Chester and Fairfield counties, was chosen out of 42 boards across the state.
    “It was not a hard decision this year,” said Beth Green, program director for the Children’s Foster Care Review Board. “They continuously go above and beyond.”

    Lancaster Motor Speedway hosts the second race of the NDRA Dirt Wars with $3,000 going to the winner.

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of South Carolina at Lancaster freshman Jackie Brown has been honored as the Div. I National Junior College Athletic Association Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for games Aug. 29 through Sept. 4.

  • Falcons release former Warriors' star

    Former Indian Land football star Kamaal McIlwain was cut by the Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 2.

    McIlwain was cut following the Falcons’ final preseason game, a 21-7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the Georgia Dome.

  • LHS swimmers down South Pointe

    The Lancaster High School swim team posted a 189-106 win over South Pointe of Rock Hill on Wednesday. Lauren Spencer and Jory Pettit led LHS with two wins each. Adam Whetstone, Daniel Byrd, Jonah Faile, Nathan Spencer, Adam Augeson and Brandon Gossman each had a win. In the results, the girls are listed first.
