  • Suspects sought in IL car thefts

    INDIAN LAND – The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office is investigating two brazen car thefts reported late last week.

    At 4:56 a.m. Thursday, July 10, a white male wearing a hat, white tank shirt, shorts and shoes broke into Bernard Motorcar Company, 9410 Charlotte Highway, Indian Land, according to a sheriff’s office press release. 

  • Search for Hough ends in arrest of uncle

    While Tyzhe Hough, the man wanted for hitting two police officers with his car, is still at large, the search for him has resulted in the arrest of his uncle.

    Scottie Bernard Hough, 46, 5908 Henderson Road, was arrested Tuesday, July 8, for a probation and parole violation, according to a Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office incident report. 

  • 911 recording reveals moments after toddler found in hot car

    Recordings from a series of 911 calls made earlier this month shed more light on the events surrounding the death of three-year-old Logan Cox, who suffered heat stroke inside a hot car on July 2 and died several days later. 

  • Officers looking for owner of abandoned animals

    Lancaster County Sheriff’s Deputies are searching for a Lancaster woman, Heather Ann Hinson, 29, 217 W. Second St., Lancaster, in relation to a case of of abandoned animals.

    According to a Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office report, about 4:30 p.m. June 18 deputies were dispatched to West Second Street in response to a complaint from neighbors about pets left behind at the residence.

  • Deputies investigate suspicious fire

    Lancaster County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a suspicious fire on Sunnybrook Lane, between John Everall and Camp Creek roads, on June 21.

    Deputies and Camp Creek, Shiloh-Zion and Antioch fire departments were dispatched to a mobile home fire on Sunnybrook Lane at 7:29 a.m.

    According to a Lancaster County Sheriff’s report, when deputies arrived the homeowner was standing in front of the residence and informed firefighters “he had extinguished the fire and they did not need to get the hose off the truck.”

  • Hearing set for July 14

    Prosecutors are gearing up for a hearing later this month for a Lancaster man facing multiple charges related to more than a half-million dollars in misappropriated funds from three area agencies.

    Sixth Circuit Solicitor Doug Barfield said Wednesday, July 2, that a hearing will be held July 14 for Ezra Brown Crenshaw Jr., 42, 2176 Country Club Drive, though he declined to give specifics about what type of hearing it is or what it will entail. 

  • Man allegedly accosts girl in Walmart

    The search is on for a man police say approached an 11-year-old girl inside Lancaster’s Walmart and made “very unsettling remarks” to her on Wednesday, June 18. 

    Lancaster Police Department Capt. Scott Grant is asking for the public’s help in identifying the still-unknown man who spoke to the girl inside the store at about noon on Wednesday.

    A massive marijuana trafficking operation was uncovered Thursday, June 19 by a joint drug task force made up local and state authorities. 

  • Men steal $3,000 in cigarettes from convenience store

    Authorities are trying to identify three men who stole at least $3,000 worth of cigarettes from a Lancaster convenience store on Tuesday, June 10. 

    Officers responded at 2:48 p.m. to a 911 call about a shoplifting that just happened at Citgo, 1200 N. Main St., according to a Lancaster Police Department incident report. 

  • Man wanted in accident that injured mo-ped driver

    Police are searching for a Lancaster man in connection with a car accident that injured a mo-ped driver earlier this month.
