  • Couple tied up, robbed at IL home

    An older Indian Land couple was tied up and robbed during a home invasion Wednesday evening, and the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects.
    The home invasion was the second in Lancaster County in less than a week.
    The Indian Land incident at 6946 Cureton Taylor Drive happened between 8 and 8:30 p.m.

  • Deputies seek suspects in IL armed robbery

    Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying two suspects in a Feb. 3 armed robbery.  
    About 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, deputies were dispatched to the home of an older couple on Cureton Taylor Drive, just south of Waxhaw Highway (S.C. 75).
    The wife said while she was outside with the couple’s dog, two black men wearing masks approached her. One man had a black handgun with a long barrel, and the other a knife.

  • Tracking system finds stolen Bobcat at IL home site

    A vehicle tracking system led to the Jan. 14 discovery of a piece of stolen construction equipment at a new home site in Indian Land.
    According to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office incident report, an employee for LoJack Corp. called a deputy to Belt Lane off Shelley Mullis Road because his location system was pinging on a piece of stolen equipment nearby.
    The deputy reported that he and the man from LoJack followed the signal down Belt Lane, where they found the signal source, a Bobcat mini-excavator stolen from a job site in Huntersville, N.C.

  • LPD searching for female shooting suspect

    The Lancaster Police Department is searching for a woman wanted in connection with a shooting Monday morning.

    Martina Aiesha Jenkins, 22, of 153 Plyler Road, Lancaster, is wanted for attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

    Capt. Scott Grant said in a public notice Monday afternoon that Jenkins is suspected in the 9 a.m. shooting at 108 Plyler Road.

    Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office incident reports:
    Shoplifters at Walmart in Indian Land are not unusual, though sometimes what they steal can be, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
    One such case happened the evening of Jan. 10 when two men who may have been trying to cash in on a New Year’s resolution black market walked into the store and stole more than four dozen boxes of smoking-cessation aids.

  • Man charged with taking wheelchair from wife

    A Lancaster man has been charged with aggravated domestic violence after allegedly taking away his wife’s wheelchair, oxygen and cell phone and forcing her to endure a night of freezing temperatures without heat.
    William Leroy Corder, 42, of 1057 Paladin Road, is charged with one count of domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature. He is being held without bond at the Lancaster County Detention Center.

  • No-passing zone accident claims life of Lancaster man

    A driver passing in a no-passing zone caused an accident on Great Falls Highway (S.C. 200) that claimed the life of a Lancaster man.
    Killed in the accident near the intersection of Douglas Road was Raeford Eric Robertson, 64, of Memorial Park Drive, said Chief Deputy Coroner Karla Knight.
    S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. David Jones said the accident happened about 7:20 p.m. when the driver of an eastbound 2003 Honda sedan crossed double lines to pass another car and struck Robertson’s westbound 1997 Honda coupe head-on.

  • Still no suspect in Kershaw shooting

    The identity of the suspect who shot a man at his home Jan. 3 remains a mystery, a Lancaster County sheriff’s spokesman said, even to the victim.
    Deputies were called to 605 E. Marion St. about 10 p.m. the night of the incident, where they found the 29-year-old victim on the front porch bleeding from a single gunshot wound.
    Sheriff’s spokesman Doug Barfield said the victim told deputies he’d heard a knock, and when he went to see who it was, someone shot him through the door.  

  • Lancaster man charged in drive-by shooting

    A Lancaster man is facing attempted murder charges in the drive-by shooting of a woman as she sat in a car on Plyler Road with her boyfriend, according to Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office reports.
    And the search for that suspect resulted in the arrest of another Lancaster man for trafficking crack cocaine.
