    Lisa Monique Clyburn passed away in Georgia.
    The family is receiving friends at the home of her parents, Leroy and Jenesta Clyburn, 1869 Santa Barbara Drive.

  • Everette 'Bob' Roberts, 81

    CANTON, N.C. – Everette “Bob” Elmore Roberts, 81, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011.

    Mr. Roberts was born Jan. 15, 1930, in Kershaw. He was the son of the late Gilman Roberts and the late Ruby Woodruff Roberts. 

    He had recently lived in Arizona before making Canton his home for the past five years. 

  • Bettina 'Betty' Taylor Hall, 76

    Bettina “Betty” Taylor Hall, 76, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2011.

    She was the daughter of the late Orange Taylor and Nelda Sweet Taylor and was married to Richard S. “Dick” Hall. She was retired from retail sales and a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses.

    Survivors include her husband, and a sister, Mary Lou Matochas of Mount Dora, Fla.

    She was preceded in death by a brother, Oakley Taylor.

    Marguerite Bentley Smith, 90, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011.  
    She was the daughter of the late William James and Rosa Lee Story Bentley.
    Survivors include a daughter, Rose Marie Goins of Lancaster; two grandchildren, Gregory A. Wilson and Karen J. Porter ; and six grandchildren.
    Services will be later at DeArmanville Methodist Church Cemetery in DeArmanville, Ala.
    Lancaster Funeral Home is in charge.

    Howard Hilton, 74
    Howard Lester Hilton, 74, widower of Margie Lucille Banks Hilton, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at his home.  He was born Dec. 12, 1937, in Bethune, a son of the late Lester Ramsey Hilton and Mary Willene Baker Hilton. Mr. Hilton was a loving husband and father, who enjoyed working in his garden and pulling for the Atlanta Braves. He was retired from Springs Industries.

    She was the daughter of the late Ernest Lavon Faile and Biddy Ann Faile Faile.  
    Survivors include a son, Richard Dean Holcomb of Kershaw; a daughter, Allison “Nicky” Holcomb of Kershaw; two brothers, Russell Faile and Stanley Faile, both of Kershaw; and two grandchildren.
    Services will be at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 28, 2011, at Charlesboro Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Larry Plyler and Steve Neal, with burial in Blackmon Cemetery.

    Lavetta Munn Eubanks, 88
    JEFFERSON – Lavetta Munn Eubanks, 88, died Monday, Dec. 26, 2011.
    She was the daughter of the late Daniel Alexander and Effie Newman Munn.  
    Survivors include her children, W.L. Buster Eubanks of Jefferson, Marsha Cauthen of Lancaster, Timmy Eubanks of Camden; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
    Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
    The family will receive friends following the service at their home.

     HEATH SPRINGS – Jamie Michael Stevens, 32, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at Erwin City, Tenn.  He was born Aug. 20, 1979, in Lancaster, a son of Joseph Michael Stevens and Kathy Adams Jones. Mr. Stevens was a foreman with Wolff Tree Service and enjoyed his work with this company. He loved spending time with his two children Jacob and Makenzie and also enjoyed fun time with his two dogs Hydro and Zoe and his cat Rush.

    James Edward Payne, 62, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011.
    He was a son of the late Jack and Ethel Greene Payne.
    Survivors include a son, Chris Payne of Columbia; sisters, Jan West of West Columbia, Debra Funderburk and Kathy Payne, both of Lancaster; brothers, Robert Payne of Kershaw, Dave Payne of Jefferson, Ron Payne, George Payne and Paul Payne, all of Kershaw.  
    Services will be at 1 p.m. today, Dec. 23, 2011, at Haile Goldmine Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
