He attended public schools in Chester Count. He was a former textile worker and a retired self-employed logger. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Methodist Church in Catawba.

    Survivors include her mother of Lancaster; three brothers, Broadus “Buck” Wright of Lancaster, Gene Wright of Apex, N.C., and Kenneth Wright of Las Cruces, N.M.; and two sisters, Mary Ann Small of Indian Land and Linda Steele of Lancaster.
