    Jimmy Whitey Hegler, 66, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2007.

    Born Aug. 14, 1941, in Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Jimmy Hegler and Ruby McManus Hegler. He was married to Janice Stevens Hegler. He was the owner and operator of Carolina Body Shop, a member of the Lancaster Moose Lodge, Lancaster Shag Club, Lancaster Mens Golf Association and Second Baptist Church.

    Ethel Mae Short Elliott, 78, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007.

    Born Aug. 8, 1929, in Shelby, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Buford Frank Short and Ethel Estelle Munn Short. She was married to the late Ellie Lee Elliott Jr. She was a member of the Pleasant Dale Baptist Church. She worked as an office manger at Elliott White Springs Memorial Hospital and St. Francis Hospital in Charleston.

    Philip Lee Dandridge, 77

    Philip Lee Dandridge, 77, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007.

    Born June 5, 1930, in Cottageville, he was the son of the late Hubert Judson and Mary Redman Dandridge. He was married to Elizabeth Betty Holms Dandridge. He was a graduate of Berry College in Rome, Ga. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War. He worked at Sonoco Products Company in Hartsville and Springs Mills in Fort Mill. He later owned a personnel placement business. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster.

    INDIAN LAND – Alice Alvarez, 59, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007.

    She was born Nov. 8, 1948, in Manhattan, N.Y. She was married to Oswaldo Alvarez. She was a retired admissions supervisor for Nyack Hospital in Nyack, N.Y., and was a member of St. Philip Neri Church.

    Survivors include her husband; two sons, Anthony Alvarez and his wife, Nhu, of Pearl River, N.Y., and Steven Alvarez of Lancaster; a daughter, Lissette Alvarez Holland and her husband, Brian, of Charlotte; and two grandchildren.

    A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

    Lynn Crawford Criminger, 61, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007.

    She was the daughter of John and Marie Steele Crawford. She was married to Charles David Criminger. She was a member of Oak Ridge ARP Church, where she was an active member of the choir. She was a teacher's assistant at Buford Elementary School.

    The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the home of her daughter, Cynthia Cooper, 1864-B Westbrook Road, Edgemoor. Other services will be private.

    Eugenia McIlwain, 86

    Eugenia McIlwain, 86, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2007.

    Born April 30, 1921, in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late James McIlwain and Rosa Hood.

    Survivors include three daughters, Ivery McIlwain, Jean Twitty and Rose Mary McIlwain, all of Lancaster; four sisters, Garnell Ware and Lula Walker, both of Lancaster, Janie D. Brice of Wilmington, DE, Georgia Saunders of Washington, D.C.; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
