    Valentine Pageant set for Feb. 16

    St. Paul AME Church, 133 Pleasant Hill St., Lancaster, will host a Valentine Pageant at 4 p.m. Feb. 16. 

    Black History Day Program

  • Temporary limited visitation at SMH

    Springs Memorial Hospital has implemented a temporary limited visitation policy due to the high number of confirmed flu cases in the area. 

    Visitation is limited as follows:

    - Children under 12 years of age are asked not to visit patient rooms or visit patients within the emergency department. Also, please do not bring children to the waiting room of the Emergency Department unless they are being seen as a patient.

    The Indian Land community now has an official Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) chapter. 
    Pastor Michael Davis, Indian Land FCA staff member and a special education teacher at Indian Land Elementary School, said the FCA gets students together to develop leadership skills and also help them to go out and get disciples for Christ.
    Despite its name, the organization is not just limited to student athletes. All students are welcome to join the group.

  • Preston Robertson and Ruth Ann Gainey Robertson celebrate their 50th anniversary today. Preston and Ann were married Sept. 21, 1968. 

    The Robertsons have two sons, Jeff Stewart and his wife, Bobbie Jo, of Pawley’s Island, and Scott Robertson and his wife, Sherry, of Lancaster; two grandchildren, Ashley and Christopher; one great-grandchild, Carson; and another one due in November. 

    They still love each other just as much as they did when they said, “I do,” and are so proud of their children and grandchildren. 

  • Jackie and Kay Hinson Vincent celebrated their 50th anniversary on Aug. 10, 2018. 

    They were married Aug. 10, 1968, in Kershaw. 

    A party was given in their honor by their sons and family members, and they celebrated with their family and siblings for a week at Edisto Beach. 

    The Vincents have two sons, Daniel Vincent and his wife, Kendra, of Westminster, and Patrick Vincent and his wife, Jana, of Kershaw; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

  • Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Thorne announce the engagement of their daughter, Kaylen Nicole Thorne, to Gabriel Neal Glover, all of Lancaster.

    The wedding is planned for 4 p.m. Oct. 13, 2018, at The Bottle Factory in Monroe, N.C.

    Miss Thorne is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Baxley of Lancaster and Ms. Betty Thorne of Great Falls. She is a 2013 graduate of Lancaster High School and a 2018 graduate of Anderson University with a bachelor of science in nursing. She is a registered nurse at Lexington Medical Center.

  • Jill Elizabeth Hammond of Rock Hill and Benjamin Paul Davenport of Charlotte were married July 17, 2018, in Rock Hill.

    The bride is the daughter of Paul and Doris Hammond of Lancaster. 

    The groom is the son of Alison McCall of Greenville, and Neal and Cheri Davenport of Charlotte. 

  • The Rev. and Mrs. Charles Phillips of Lancaster announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachel Phillips, to Wylie Simpson, both of Rock Hill.

    The wedding is planned for 5 p.m. Sept. 8, 2018, at Simpsonville United Methodist Church.

    Miss Phillips is a 2015 graduate of Winthrop University with a master’s degree in English. She is a communications coordinator at York Technical College.

  • Jason and Sharon Moser of Heath Springs announce the engagement of their daughter, Kelsi Moser, to Donovan Lang, both of Lancaster.

    The wedding is planned for 4:30 p.m. Feb. 23, 2019, at Events at Manchester in Rock Hill.

    Miss Moser is a 2013 graduate of Buford High School and a 2017 graduate of the University of South Carolina in Columbia with a bachelor of science in electrical engineering. She is an application engineer at R.E. Mason in Charlotte.
