KERSHAW – Andrew Jackson captured the first of two regular-season baseball clashes with Region IV-AA rival Buford High School, taking a 7-1 win over the Jackets on Friday night at the Volunteers field.

The Volunteers snapped a scoreless draw in second inning, scoring three runs for a 3-0 edge.

AJ extended its lead in the third with a four-run frame, highlighted by catcher Gavin Phillips’ two-run home run to left center field.

Phillips had plenty of help with the AJ offense.

Buford was led by senior Andrew Allen, who had two hits. Brett Sistare, Andrew Wright and Shylyn Wright each had a hit for BHS.
