The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office launched a manhunt Tuesday, Dec. 3, for a detention center inmate who walked away from a work detail while picking up litter along Old Charles Street.

Deputies began the search for Anthony Scott Vincent, 22, of Lancaster, just after 2 p.m., after he left a county inmate street cleaning detail.

Old Charles Street is off Airport Road between Great Falls Highway and Lancaster Golf Course.

Vincent’s coat and orange reflective vest were found behind a residence and he was last working near 1750 Old Charles St.

Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Matt Shaw said Vincent, whose last reported address is South Jackson Road, was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans with “LCDC” printed down the legs.

He was last seen walking out a tree line adjacent to the 11th hole at Lancaster Golf Course by a golfer.

Vincent was still at large by press time Tuesday as deputies, assisted by a S.C. Law Enforcement Division (SLED) helicopter and agents, continued to search the area from Great Falls Highway to Country Club Drive between Airport and Douglas roads.

Vincent is described as a white male, 5 feet 10 inches tall and 145 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes and multiple tattoos on his arms, neck and face.

Vincent had just started serving a 30-day sentence following a bench trial, said Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile.

According to judicial records, Vincent was found guilty of non-aggravated breach of peace on Nov. 5. Faile said Vincent was picked up by deputies on Sunday, Dec. 1, and jailed.

“He’s still in our custody even through he’s on work release,” Faile said. “Our concern now is to find him where he’s at, put him back in jail and keep him from getting bond on anything once he is back in jail.”

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information about Vincent or his whereabouts to call the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office at (803) 283-4136 or contact Crimestoppers at 1-888-Crime SC (1-888-274-6372). You can also email or text anonymous tips to www.midlandscrimestoppers.com.
