The Post 31 Junior Baseball team played small ball under a full moon at Eggleton Field on Tuesday night to top Mid-Carolina 2-1 and advance to the 2019 state tournament in Inman.
Lancaster designated runner Tanner Vespe scored one run in the bottom of the fourth inning on a throwing error by Mid-Carolina.
Ashton Phillips scored the second run in the fifth inning on a perfectly timed double steal that moved Buddy Howard to second base.
Mid-Carolina scored its lone run in the top of the seventh inning, but P-31 starting pitcher Chas DeBruhl got back-to-back strikeouts to seal the win.
DeBruhl, who pitched a complete game, allowed one run, four hits and one walk, while striking out 8 Mid-Carolina batters.
A complete recap of the game will be posted Wednesday on www.thelancasternews.com.
The American Legion State Baseball Tournament starts Saturday.
