A skateboarder was killed and a bicyclist seriously injured Thursday night when they were struck by a car on Lynwood Drive south of Lancaster.
The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Lorenzo Velasco Carlos, 20, of Lancaster.
Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Gary Miller said the accident happened about 11:55 p.m. on Lynwood Drive near Holly Hill Lane about 2 miles south of the city.
Miller said Velasco and bicyclist Braxton Gage Crossno, 20, were traveling south on Lynwood without lights or reflective equipment when they were struck by a 2007 Kia Sedona driven by 37-year-old Sarah Warren of Heath Springs.
Velasco was taken to Springs Memorial Hospital, where he died shortly after midnight from multiple injuries, according to the coroner’s office.
Crossno was transported by ambulance to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, Miller said. CMC said Friday afternoon that Crossno was not listed in their system, and his condition was unavailable.
Warren, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured and was not charged, Miller said.
