Sistare letter: ‘Remember When’ a huge success

-A A +A

Well, they did it again! The Always Ready Emergency Troupe’s Variety and Comedy Show “Remember When” was a huge success!
It was a night of fun, laughter and a tribute to the veterans of the U.S. armed forces, with proceeds going to the local Disabled American Veterans chapter. The talent was exceptional, leaving the audience wanting more. The time, effort and hard work put in by Lancaster County EMS, Lancaster City Fire Department and Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office showed in their flawless performances. What they accomplished cannot be put into words. All I can say is that I was proud to be a part of it.
After the show was over, I heard many comments from the audience members, like “I have never laughed so hard,” “What a great tribute,” “I can’t wait until next year’s show” and “I never knew we had so many talented people working for the county.” But the one comment that was made by my sister on the way to Columbia to watch the Lady Bruins (Go Bruins!) really hit home. She said, “You know, I loved that show. It made me want to know these people and hang around with them because they are good people.”
I thought about what she said and it made me think of that old saying “surround yourself with good people.” Well, Lancaster County is very lucky to be surrounded with these good people who protect and serve our county. They risk their lives to save others’ lives; they work long hours and are put into situations that most of us couldn’t or wouldn’t want to do; they work together as a team and show compassion and respect. In other words, they care. We should all thank them for their dedication and commitment to their job and to our community.
Thank you all for the wonderful show. Thank you all for your service to Lancaster County. Thank you for supporting our veterans. God bless you and all the men and women of our armed forces.
