Severe thunderstorm warning issued for southwestern Lancaster County

The National Weather Service has issued severe thunderstorm warning for southwestern Lancaster County effective until 4:30 p.m. Monday.
Just before 4 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over the town of Great Falls and moving east at 10 mph. 
Wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter size hail are forecasted, according to the NWS.
Hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees is possible.
For your protection seek shelter inside a sturdy building and stay away from windows. Severe thunderstorms can produce large capsizing waves. If on or near Lake Wateree or Fishing Creek Reservoir, move into dock and take shelter.
Residents are urged to report large hail, damaging winds or flooding to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office at (803) 283-4136.
