Lancaster seniors win opener 18-10

The Lancaster Post 31 seniors took game one of the American Legion playoffs best of five series 18-10 over Inman Post 45 Monday night.
Lancaster jumped on top 2-0 in the first inning when Tripp Rollings doubled in two runs.
Lancaster added two more in the bottom of the second to go up 4-0.
Inman took the lead in the third as they scored six runs to make the score 6-4.
Inman’s lead didn’t last for long as P-31’s first baseman Tyler Rodgers drilled a three-run home run to give P-31 a 7-6 lead after four innings.
Bobby Delly and Jonah Crenshaw hit back-to-back home runs to extend Lancaster’s lead to 9-6 after five innings of play.
Colt Ellis smashed a grand slam to give P-31 an 18-6 lead in nine-run sixth.
Inman scored three runs in the seventh and one in the ninth to close the gap to 18-10.
Chandler Gardner picked up the win going 6.1 innings. He allowed nine runs on seven hits, four walks and two strike outs.
Brien Clyburn worked 2.3 innings giving up one run on five hits, one walk and striking out one.
Ellis led Lancaster’s 16-hit attack with a grand slam, two hits and drove six runs.
Crenshaw belted a home run and double, driving in three runs.
Rodgers registered a home run and double, knocking in three runs.
Rollings drilled a double and single, driving in two runs.
Dolly chipped in a home run and single with an RBI.
Tripp Wright had two hits.
Brien Clyburn, Sid Watson and Trey Payne each had a hit.
“We swung the bats well tonight,” Lancaster coach Quinton Rodgers said, “We have to continue that and get solid pitching tomorrow night.”
Lancaster played at Inman Tuesday night and will be back home today  at 7 p.m.
