National Weather Service issues severe storm warning for county

After issuing a tornado watch earlier today, April 19, the National Weather Service has now issued a severe storm warning for Lancaster County until 4:30 p.m.

 At 3:50 p.m. Doppler radar indicated severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph in northern Richland, Fairfield and Lancaster counties moving in a northeastern direction at 50 mph. Communites in the watch area include Winnsboro, St. Andrews, Pageland, Lancaster, Kershaw, Irwin, Heath Springs, Elgin and Dentsville. A tornado watch remains in effect until 9 p.m.
