Mom, child escape Acacia Road blaze

A mother and her child narrowly escaped a fire Friday morning in their Acacia Road home north of Lancaster.
The woman told firefighters she heard a loud pop in her home and found a small propane heater had caught fire in another room shortly after 10 a.m., according to Lancaster County Fire Marshal Russell Rogers.
Firefighters from Shiloh Zion, Unity and Riverside volunteer fire department fought the blaze for nearly two hours as neighbors stood by, taking in the destruction.
