A man is recovering in a Charlotte hospital after he was shot in the back during an early morning armed robbery Friday, Oct. 4.

In a press release issued Friday morning, Lancaster Police Department Capt. Scott Grant said the shooting happened at about 2 a.m., shortly after the victim met a group of people he didn’t know.

The victim told officers he was near St. Paul Street and Thomas Lane when he was flagged down by an unknown man and two unknown women.

The man asked the victim to take him to a store to get some gas, which he did, Grant said.
