KERSHAW – The Andrew Jackson Lady Volunteers got off to a fast start, but had to hold on to post a 3-2 girls soccer win over county rival Lancaster High School at AJ’s Volunteer Stadium on Thursday night.

Taylor Lundy, an AJ High sophomore striker who scored all of her team’s goals, tallied the Lady Vols’ opening two goals in the first 15 minutes of the match.

Lancaster, sparked by Michaela Burton, charged back to tie the match with 10 minutes to play as Burton scored the second of her two goals in the match.

“We were able to keep pressing forward and Taylor scored for our final goal,” AJ coach Lee Hanna said.

Lundy’s third goal gave AJ the win.

Bella Caldwell had two assists for the Lady Vols in the win.

Burton tallied both of her goals on direct shots for the Lady Bruins.

The Lady Vols, with the home win, pushed their mark to 4-7 on the season. AJ is 2-0 in region play.

Lancaster fell to 6-9 on the season, 4-4 in region play.
