LHS swimmers eighth in Upstate Invitational

The Lancaster High School swim team placed eighth overall in the Upstate Invitational swim meet held Sept. 8 at the Rock Hill Aquatics Center.

The Bruins, in the 16-team field, were eighth overall with 80 points.

The LHS girls were sixth place in the women’s field with 56 points and the LHS boys placed ninth with 24 points.

Makenzy Mills led the Lancaster High School girls with a second in the 50 freestyle and she placed third in the 100 backstroke,

Tamra Tipton was fourth in the girls 100 butterfly and she took 10th in the 100 backstroke.

Taylor Teague was fifth in the girls 200 individual medley and she was eighth in the 100 breaststroke.

Isabella Ihm finished ninth in the 500 freestyle.

LHS senior Samuel Page paced the Bruins, swimming to a second in the 100 backstroke and a second in the boys 50 freestyle.

Lancaster also placed in three relay events at the meet.

Teague, Tipton, Mills and Charlee Henry teamed for an eighth place finish in the 200-yard medley relay.

Page combined with Louie Prete, Tyler Tipton and Nathan Reid to place 11th in the boys 200 medley relay.

The Lancaster High girls also placed eighth in the girls 400 freestyle relay, which included Reece Walker, Mills, Tipton and Ihm.
