Lancers drop three games to Louisburg

Louisburg College captured a NJCAA Region X baseball series, taking three games from the University of South Carolina Lancaster Lancers, including two games Sunday, at the Lancaster High School baseball field.

The teams split two games in the series opener Saturday at the LHS field.

Louisburg prevailed 13-2 in five innings and 4-1 for the Sunday sweep.

Louisburg, in the three-run win, made the most of nine hits.

Bo Owens led USCL with three hits. Nick Cicci supplied two hits, including a double.

Walker McDowell, Todd Mattox and Josh Evans each had a hit. Johnny Watts had a RBI.

Mike Nunez, who worked five innings, took the loss, allowing five hits, three walks and two runs. He struck out two.

Brady Smith hurled an inning and yielded two hits, a run, an earned run and struck out one.

Brock Robinson also pitched an inning, yielding two hits, a run, and an earned run. He fanned one.

In the 11-run loss, the Lancers had seven hits, with Nick Cicci leading the way with two hits and a RBI.

Walker McDowell ripped a triple, drove in a run and scored a run.

Jackson Barrett had a hit and scored a run.

Patrick Dizon rapped a double, while Bo Owens and Johnny Watts each had a hit.

Levi Parker, who worked an inning, took the loss, allowing eight runs, three earned runs, and five walks.

Michael Lewis went three innings, giving up three hits, four runs, three earned runs and two walks. He struck out three.

Cem Caglayan, in an inning, yielded two hits, a run and a walk.

The Lancers, 20-21, are 6-12 in region play.

The University of South Carolina Lancaster Lancers split a Region X twin bill with Louisburg College on Saturday.

The Lancers won the series opener, taking an 8-3 win.

Johnny Watts led a seven-hit Lancers attack with two hits and two RBIs.

Todd Mattox rapped a double and drove in two runs. Jackson Barrett drilled a double and drove home a run.

Josh Evans had a hit and a RBI.

Bo Owens and Bryson Smart each had one hit. Chase Coker had a RBI and Walker McDowell scored a run.

Tyler Fox, who worked five innings for the win, gave up seven hits, three runs, three earned runs and a walk. He struck out five.

Brock Robinson went two frames and allowed a hit and fanned two.

In game two, Louisburg rebounded for a 15-5 win in five innings.

Johnny Watts paced the Lancers with a home run, double and two RBIs.

Austin Muse, in an inning, gave up three hits, six runs, six earned runs, a walk and hit two batters.

Josh Tucker hurled an inning, giving up three hits, a run, an earned run and fanned one.
