Taylor has earned numerous awards in his work as N.C. sheriff’s chaplain

Michael Taylor, chaplain of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, has been appointed executive director of the N.C. Sheriffs’ Chaplains Association.
Taylor, a Lancaster native, serves as the president of the association and has been an active member since 1994.
Taylor attained the master level chaplaincy in 1998 through the association’s accreditation program. He was named the National Sheriff’s Association Chaplain of the Year in 2003 and was the recipient in 2001 of WSOC-TV Channel 9’s Nine Who Cares Award.
