A Lancaster man died Wednesday after he was found shot multiple times on Hood Park Lane north of the city.
The victim was identified by the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office as 34-year-old Demarcus Laquan Hendrix.
Deputies responded at 5:24 p.m. to the 600 block of Hood Park Lane, off Craig Farm Road, and found Hendrix lying in a yard with apparent gunshot wounds, according to a sheriff’s office statement. EMS transported him to Springs Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Hendrix was out on bond after he was charged with first-degree burglary on May 31.
Additional deputies, criminal investigators and crime-scene personnel swarmed the scene, interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence. A vehicle believed to be connected to the case was found at another location and was towed to the sheriff’s office for processing. A K-9 unit searched the area where the vehicle was found.
As of late Thursday, there were no reports of an arrest in the case.
“We have learned much about this homicide in a short time,” said Sheriff Barry Faile. “We have a full contingent of deputies and investigators with boots on the ground and are continuing to run down leads.”
This was Lancaster County’s fourth murder so far this year, a bit short of last year’s pace of 10 for all of 2017.
“I do not believe the public is in danger,” Faile said. “I encourage anyone with information about this shooting to contact us immediately.”
